"Wild
Flowers", client: Hayes Arboretum, Ohio 1998, Daffodil: 15x6x5in., Crocus: 10x5x5in.,
painted wood, edition of 100
Used as table decorations for a banquet. This
variation on the traditional tumbling toy is also a pun on the word "wild" since
a gentle spin sets the flower tumbling bulb over buds, back and forth along the
rim of the pot. Many other flowers are of course possible as well as a nearly
infinite number of non botanical subjects: cows and moons, plates and spoons,
cats and dogs, airplanes and clouds, monkeys and bananas, food and drink, words
and symbols, cars and trucks, rockets and stars, bulls and bears, sports figures
and balls, big fish and little fish, etc.
